The One-Day National Level Continuing Education Programme was held on December 6, 2024, at Sree Abirami Institutions Auditorium. The event, titled “Emerging Trends and Challenges in Drug Safety, Discovery & Development,” was co-sponsored by The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University and accredited with 10 credit points.
The primary objective of this program was to bring together researchers, industry experts, and thought leaders to explore the latest trends, emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), and key challenges in the critical areas of drug development and its safe usage.
Event Highlights
This event was organized by the Department of Pharmacology & Pharmacy Practice, Sree Abirami College of Pharmacy.
🟢 The inauguration and felicitation of chief guests were conducted by our beloved Chairman, Dr. P. Periyasamy.
🟢 The first session began with a welcome speech by Dr. S. Jeevanandham, Principal, Sree Abirami College of Pharmacy.
🟢 A brief address was given by Dr. R. Senthilkumar, Managing Director, where he emphasized the importance of the seminar for students and its role in enhancing their academic and professional knowledge.
A total of 820 students registered and actively participated in the seminar.

- Topic: Processing of OSD Pharmaceutical Formulation and Opportunities
- Included interactive discussions with students.

- Speaker: Dr. Karthik Rakam, CEO & Co-Founder, Avenida Innovation
- Introduction by: Mrs. Neelaphar, Associate Professor, Dept. of Pharmacy Practice
- Topic: Revolutionizing Healthcare & Drug Development
📌 Session 4:
- Speaker: Dr. Madeswaran, HOD, Dept. of Pharmacology, Karpagam College of Pharmacy
- Introduction by: Mr. Bharathan Bose, Associate Professor, Dept. of Pharmacognosy
- Topic: Alternatives to Animal Use in Research – The 5R Technique
Each session included a Q&A segment, allowing students to engage with speakers, ask insightful questions, and gain practical knowledge from industry leaders.
Valedictory Function & Closing Ceremony
The valedictory function commenced with the distribution of certificates and mementos to the E-Poster winners and students from participating colleges.
The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Srinivasan, HOD, Dept. of Pharmacology, followed by the National Anthem.
This Continuing Education Programme was an immensely beneficial and informative experience, enhancing students’ academic knowledge and industry insights.
