INAUGURAL CEREMONY-ABIRAMI PHYSIO CARNIVAL 2024
The sun rose over the sprawling Sree Abirami College grounds at the heart of our vibrant city on July 18th, 2024, marking the dawn of an exhilarating journey—the inaugural Abirami Physio Carnival. Hosted by organizing chairman and principal of Sree Abirami College of Physiotherapy, Dr. R. Jayabharathi, this intercollegiate sports meet transcended mere competition to embody unity, sportsmanship, and a celebration of physical prowess.
With participants hailing from 25 colleges and totaling 1050 students across Tamil Nadu, the atmosphere was charged with anticipation and camaraderie. The day commenced punctually at 9 a.m. with a gentle drizzle of rain, beginning with the resonant strains of the Tamil Thai Vazhthu, an ode to our cultural roots and collective spirit.
The proceedings unfolded seamlessly, orchestrated with finesse by our distinguished board of directors led by the venerable chairman, Dr. P. Periyaswamy. The ceremony opened with a warm Welcome Address, setting the tone for the day’s events. The Welcome and Presidential Address by Dr. Periyaswamy himself was a testament to his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to promoting sports in academia.
The highlight of the morning was undoubtedly the Chief Guest Address by Dr. S.A. Karthikeyan, Principal of Government College of Physiotherapy, Trichy. His insightful words resonated deeply, inspiring both participants and spectators alike to strive for excellence in all endeavors.
This inaugural edition of the Abirami Physio Carnival would not have been possible without the steadfast support and guidance of our esteemed dignitaries—Dr. Kunthavidevi, Dr. R. Senthil Kumar, Dr. P. Balamurugam, Dr. Umadevi, and Dr. Sucharitha. Their presence and contributions added a layer of prestige and gravitas to the event, elevating it to a memorable milestone in the annals of collegiate sports.
The symbolic lighting of the Olympic torch, a moment steeped in tradition and symbolism, was executed flawlessly by our talented students, symbolizing the illumination of potential and the commencement of fierce but friendly competition.
As the sports meet officially kicked off, the grounds came alive with cheers and applause, a testament to the dedication and preparation of our athletes. Throughout the day, events ranging from track and field to team sports showcased the diverse talents and competitive spirit present among the participants.
The culmination of the morning’s events included a heartfelt Vote of Thanks expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the carnival. The resonant chords of the National Anthem brought the proceedings to a poignant close, underscoring our collective pride in our nation and its sporting heritage.
As the day drew to a close, participants departed with a sense of accomplishment and camaraderie, carrying memories of fierce competition, new friendships forged, and aspirations kindled.
