WORLD PHARMACISTS DAY 2023
The World Pharmacists Day 2023 celebration, held at Sree Abirami College of Pharmacy in Coimbatore on September 25th, was a resounding success. This event was organized by The Indian Pharmaceutical Association Tamil Nadu State Branch, in collaboration with the Coimbatore Local Branch, and hosted by Sree Abirami College of Pharmacy. The day began with an eloquent elocution competition among the pharmacy colleges in Coimbatore at 2:00 PM, where participants showcased their knowledge and communication skills.
Later in the afternoon, at 4:00 PM, the valedictory function commenced with the presence of esteemed management members, including Chairman Dr. P. Periyaswamy, and distinguished members of the Board of Directors such as Dr. Kunthavi Devi Amma, Dr. R. Senthil Kumar, Dr. Uma Devi, Dr. P. Balamurugan, and Dr. Sucharita from Sree Abirami Institutions. Additionally, notable attendees included executives from IPA Coimbatore Local Branch, Dr. M. Ramanathan (Secretary & Principal, PSG College of Pharmacy), Dr. S. Mohan (Treasurer & Principal, Karpagam College of Pharmacy), and Dr. M. Senthil Kumar (Research Director, Sree Abirami College of Pharmacy) and Special Invite Dr. Jeevanadham (Principal, Sree Abirrami College of Pharmacy).
The event featured a diverse range of activities, beginning with a prayer song and a warm welcome address delivered by Dr. Mohan, Treasurer and principal of Karpagam College of Pharmacy. The ceremonial lamp lighting, symbolizing knowledge and enlightenment, was conducted by all dignitaries, and they were welcomed with bouquets.
Dr. P. Periyaswamy, in his presidential address, extended greetings to pharmacy students and was felicitated by IPA local branch members. Chief Guest Mr. G. Anandhaselvam, Sales and Marketing Director at ICARUS Health Care Pvt Ltd and an IPA – TN Member shared valuable insights into the pharmacy profession and ongoing developments. He was honored by the IPA Coimbatore local branch. Guest of Honour Mr. Eswaran M, Medical Store Officer at TNMSC, District Drug Warehouse, Coimbatore, highlighted the crucial roles and responsibilities of pharmacists and was similarly honored by IPA members.
Special addresses were delivered by Dr. Senthil Kumar and Dr. Balamurugan, emphasizing the vital support pharmacists offer to physicians and conveying their best wishes to all pharmacists.
Dr. Ramanathan, the secretary of IPA Coimbatore Local Branch, provided insights into the events organized and other activities conducted over the past year. He also declared the winners of the elocution competition, with Ms. Dhanusa from Sree Abirami College of Pharmacy securing the first place. The second place secured by Ms. Shallomgeace, PSG College of Pharmacy, and the third place secured by Ms. Sanjitha, SRIPMS were awarded to participants with enthusiasm and applause from the audience.
The event concluded with Sree Abirami College of Pharmacy honoring all the IPA executive council members. Dr. M. Senthil Kumar delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to IPA members, other pharmacy college principals, staff, and students for their participation and support. The program came to a close with the National Anthem, symbolizing unity and pride in the pharmacy profession.
